For decades, UN peacekeeping operations have contributed to creating stability in conflict areas around the world, and have been a central part of Norway's international peacekeeping engagement. Now, these efforts are being challenged by reduced funding, increased great power rivalry, and increasingly complex conflicts.

We ask: Are UN peacekeeping operations still needed? What role should UN peacekeeping operations play in Norwegian peacekeeping engagement and what is at stake if the effort is weakened? How must the UN reform and develop to create and maintain peace in the future?
