About the event
Acem Ung and Acem Ung UiO, in collaboration with psychologist Julia Røiseland, is hosting a workshop on attachment and emotional avoidance in dating and romantic relationships. The event and presentation will be in Norwegian, so you should be able to understand norwegian to join (but you can join even though you are not fluent in norwegian, but speaks english)
Who am I within a relationship and during the dating phase? How does my psychology influence the path into a relationship and the dynamics with a partner once in one?
How can meditation help manage the vulnerability that often characterizes the early stages of a relationship, and foster a better understanding of who we are in a romantic partnership? These are some of the questions addressed in this workshop.
Attachment theory is an established psychological framework explaining how early experiences with caregivers shape the way we bond with others later in life. It describes various attachment styles—such as secure, avoidant, and ambivalent—that influence how we seek closeness, handle distance, and respond to emotional intimacy in relationships.
During the workshop, you will complete a brief questionnaire to assess where you stand on these dimensions.
The journey into a relationship can be long, involving many different stages. In these initial phases, many people develop strategies to conceal their true feelings—for instance, out of fear of appearing "needy." Conversely, dating apps can create the impression that there is always someone better out there, making it harder to fully commit to a relationship.
Following an overview of the theory and the questionnaire, we will hold small-group discussions based on specific questions and personal experiences.
This event is open to anyone aged 17 to 35 and is organized by Acem Ung UiO / Acem Ung. You do not need to have learned Acem Meditation to participate, so feel free to invite friends along. You can also try a bit of meditation during the first half-hour if you wish, as we will play a breathing meditation for you to listen to.
Vegetarian soup will be served to everyone attending!
