About the event
Join us for two evening courses where we will delve into nettle as a fiber plant. We will make both rope and shopping nets, as well as talk about other useful ways to use nettle.
Course evening 1:
Time: September 2, 5:00 PM-8:00 PM
Location: Not yet determined, but it will be a place that is easy to get to from Oslo by public transport
On the first course evening we will go out into nature and find nettles. You will learn how to separate the fibers from the stem and the rest of the plant. We will start spinning thread during the evening.
Course evening 2:
Time: September 21, 5:00 PM-8:00 PM
Location: Norwegian Mushroom and Useful Plants Association, Schweigaards gate 34E, 0191 Oslo
On the second course evening, you will learn how to needle-tie the nettle rope you have started to make into a shopping net. We will go through needle-tying techniques, and how to shape the nettle rope into a textile.
You must bring this with you:
– Basket/bags to collect the nettles in
– Small bags to preserve the fibers in
– Gloves if you want to use it for harvesting
– Notebooks to document the process
– Food and drink according to your needs
