About the event

Acem Young and Acem young UiO, in collaboration with psychologist Julia Røiseland, are organizing a workshop on attachment and emotional avoidance in dating and relationships.

Who am I in a relationship and in the dating phase? How does my psychology affect the way into a relationship, and the dynamics with a partner in a relationship?

How can meditation help to deal with the vulnerability that can mark the way into a relationship, and a better understanding of who we are in a love relationship? This is some of what you will get answers to during this workshop.

Attachment theory is an established theory within psychology, which explains how early experiences with caregivers shape the way we bond with other people later in life. It describes different attachment styles – such as secure, avoidant and ambivalent – that influence how we seek closeness, manage distance and respond to emotional contact in relationships.

At this workshop, you will complete a short survey to map how you relate to these dimensions.
The road into a relationship can be long, with many different steps. In these initial phases, many people develop strategies to hide what they actually feel, e.g. in fear of being perceived as "needy". On the other hand, dating apps can give the feeling that you can always find someone better, and make it harder to fully commit to a relationship.

After reviewing the theory and survey, we discuss in small groups, based on questions and our own experiences. The event is in Norwegian, but is open to those who understand Norwegian but prefer to communicate in English.

This event is for you between the ages of 17 and 35, and is organized by Acem Ung UiO / Acem Ung. You do not need to have learned Acem meditation to participate, so feel free to invite friends. You can also try some meditation in the first half hour if you wish, as we play a breathing meditation that you can listen to.

Soup (vegetarian) will be served to everyone present!
